WELLINGTON.

This day. A Branch of the Land League in Wellington. A meeting was held last night for the purpose of expressing sympathy with the Irish Land Leagues. The Theatre was crowded, and among those on the stage were Bishop Redwood, Sir George Grey, and about a dozen members of the House. The following resolutions were carried :— " That this meeting expresses its deep sympathy with the object of the Irish Land League and with the efforts the Irish people are making to obtain the right of occupying on a just condition the land on which they were born, upon which they are dwelling, and the produce from which affords the only means of their maintaining life." Mr Sheehan moved " That this meeting desires to express its disapproval of the passing of the Coercion Act which deprives the Irish people of the liberty which is proclaimed the birthright of every British subject." Mr Ballance moved " That this meeting pledges itself to give substantial aid to the National Land League, to enable them to give assistance to the evicted tenants and families of the imprisoned." George Fisher moved, " That the ladies present be invited to form a committee for the purpose of opening subscription lists in aid of the Ladies' Land League, and of drawing up an address of sympathy to Miss Anna Parnell and the Land League, to be forwarded with whatever money may be raised as soon as possible." Sir George Grey and Bishop Eedwood also addressed the meeting.
