WANGANUI.
This day. A bo* containing £190 in old called in silver has boen stolen from the ss. Stormbird. The box which was consigned from the Bank o'" Now Z^ahnd here to the Bank in Melbourne, via Wellington, was placed on bard on Saturday afternoon and taken charge of by the chief officer, who locked it in his cabin, and last evening found it was missing. Captain I)awson vras not aware that the box was on board till informed of the robbery. The silver though old is current and passable. There is no plue at present to fcb,e thief or the property.
