Naval Brigade Prire Firing.

The Navals competed at the Government Eange, Collarbone. Creek, on Satur day last, in two squads, for a number of prizes presented to the Brigade. For first cluss shots, a handsome gold compass locket was presented by Captain Wildman ; also a first-class fowling piece, presented by Mr J. S. Hart. For the second class shots a gold locket presented by the Carbine Champion (P.O. Wm. Armstrong), and a silver watch by Mr Holden, of Grahamstown. These prizes are to be won by the highest scorers (in their respective sets) of an aggregate of seven competitions, the shooting on Saturday being the first competition. As will be seen by the scores appended, the Carbine Champion (P.O. W. Armstrong) opens the ball with the magnificent score of 84 points, closely followed by Seaman Parslow with 78. The shooting was, on the whole, good, but owing to some of the competitors firing almost iv the dark, their scores are not as good as might have been expected. It is anticipated that there will be some hot shooting during the ageiregat" for Captain Wildmau's prize, but there is no doubt that whoever beats the storm bird (the champion) will have to shoot. The ranges were 200, 400, and 500 yards; seven shots at each range :—
