Sydney, This day. Small Fox: Fresh. Cases. Two more cases of small pox are reported to-day, The sufferers live in the vicinity of Sussex street, where the disease has previously appeared. The two supposed cases of small pox at Burwood are now proved to be chicken pox. Sydney, Sunday. Admiral Earl of Clanwilliam is now better. The Squadron will not, however leave for Auckland before Tuesday next, and its departure may probably be further postponed to allow time for the Bacchante to come on from Melbourne to join. Latek. Further information tends to confirm the probability of the Squadron awaiting the arrival of the Bacchante, before leaving for Auckland. The Bacchante is now expected to leave Melbourne for Sydney on Wednesday next. Melbourne, Saturday. Judgment in the Ferret prosecution was delivered to-day. Henderson, the reputed owner, and Wallace, the purser, have each been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment, and Wright, the captain, to three and a-half years. Victoria Winter Meeting. The winter steeplechase meeting of the ■ Victoria .Racing (Jlub was held today at Flemington. . T^e weather was fine. There was a good attendance. His Excellency .the Governor .waspresent. The following are the results of the two chief events of the day:—Grand National Hurdle Bace, 3 miles: Loughlin's Sir Peter, 1; Lagin's Cumberland, 3 ; Winter's Dhurringile, 3. Three horses started. It was a splendid race, and was won by a neck. Time : smins. 42secs. Grand National Steeplechase, 3 miles : Goyder's Sussex, 1; Loughlin's Twilight, 2; Week's Lucy, 3. Several other horses started. It was a good race, and was won by two lengths. Time : 7mius. 3secs.
