In the House of Commons to-day Mr Gladstone announced that the Irish Land Commission had been appointed, and would consist o.f the following members ■; —Lord O'Hagan (Lord Chancellor of Ireland), Mr E. F. Litton (member for Tyrone), and Mr Vergon, Land Agent. London, July 19. Dean Slaulcy died today, aged 66, very generally regretted. Surprise is expressed at the names of the members of the Irish Land Commis sion, and the appointments are considered weak ; they will be strongly opposed by the Irish members in the House of Commons.
