WAITETE.

The following letter has been received from the manager of the Little Tommy claim :—ln reply to your letter of June 27th, I think that this will prove a good field. In the prospectors' tunnel which I have been in I saw a regular vein of leafy gold running along the footwall, and apparently better lookiDg further on towards the Young Colonial and Little Tommy claims, and there is every possibility of this lead continuing good through the Little Tommy claim. The other claims that are working on this reef are well pleased with the prospects that they are getting. The Young Colonial tunnel, which is in the opposite side of" the gully from us are now in 200 feet, and cut a reef on Saturday last; they are not through it yet. I asked them if they had seen any gold in it, and they said that they had seen some colors when washing a dish. This reef will run right through the Little Tommy. As for the other claims on the other hill, I have heard that they are getting some fair quartz in McCombie's claim, but of the other claims I have heard nothing. I have made arrangements with Mr tin thank to sajw and deliver on the claim rails at 14s p«|r 100 ft. It will take about 500 feet for tunnel and tip. I believe that they will, be starting to saw at Owharoa next week.

MARTHA (WAITETE).

The result of the crushing of five tons for this claim at the Owharoa battery was lodged at the bank this morning. The melted gold weighed 21ozs I7dwts and valued at £3 14s 6d per ounce.
