WELLINGTON.
This day.
Over the boat race to take place to-day between Hearn and White, the betting is almost even. Hearn has the beat boat, but in other respects White's chance is considered most favourable and will tell best should the water be at all lumpy. An alarming telegram has been received by the Colonial Secretary as to a fresh case of small-pox in Sydney, and there is erery prospect of the Detached Squadron being quarantined ou its arrival at Auckland.
