TE AROHA.
MB MCLAEEHr's INSPECTION-,
Mr McLaren's mission is being vigorously accomplished, and the following licensed holdings have been served with notice that they will be forfeited'unless the regulations to man the ground are complied with within 10 days, namely the Bonanza, Prospectors^' Morn- <. ing Star, Smile of Fortune, Bright Siar, Wheel of Fortune, No. 1 South, Hot Springs Eeserve, JS ro. 2 South, United, Golden Gate, Crown, Lucky Hit, Tui, and others .
The following claims have beep served with notice that on July 9th *it is ike intention of the inspector to file a certificate that they have been abandoned if in the meantime no valid objection is given. .Namely, Kose of Denmark, Who'd have thought It, Early Dawn, Last llfpK; Out < Boys', Prosperity, Lone Star, .No. 2, Eureka, Lucky Hit, Waiheke, Waihoi£ Golden Anchor, Golden Field, Omaha Nb.' 1. Native, New Zealand, Hapapiu, Whakapipi, Inverness, Early Morn, Treaty Waitangi, Luck at Last, Homestead, Moonlight, Sailor's Home; Marvel,; Forlorn Hope, Shotover, and ;;TBe Buck Beef, Napier, and -Kose Thistle,;and Shamrock will be served with like notices if it is found that they are not being worked. A large number of. business aid resident's rights which have been taken up under the impression that the field was going ahead at once will alsp be-. disposed of. I have given the fames' of claims, &c, in full, as I am told that their publication is desirable. These. steps will make a clearance, and t is, to be hoped, have the effect of actual Cautery, in causing new and more, wholesome blood to take the place of what was no use, and the ground will then be open : for the operations of the prospecting parties that are to start as soon as possible. It., would seem to be rather disheartening to' mark the long list of disappointed anticipations that were formedV over these :; claims, some of which seemed so parfcicu--larly justfiable, but is really no more than has always taken place'with every '■ other gold diggings, and almost evdry: other niaa since the world began. The mistakes made in the first' exciteidrusti have to be rectified, and thebrbom'bas ta ". be put in to sweep out the rubbish leftby the falso start, and then comes the true' start, with experience and perseverance for. guides. It is really a very £bbd thine for Te Aroha to get rid of all those;abused leases and protections that have" k6pt many of' the best claims untouched, and prevented more active • workers from coming in. The next thing will be perseverance when the right direction has been properly ascertained. Tho&©;nien' who 'are now so successful at Waitekauri have been many months holding pa in the ... face of difficulties, and many a claim has/ been abandoned when the gold was within ,' a few feet, and the new-comer's have made thousands directly.—W. Times. . ;
COROMANDEL. ' V Home Rule Claim:.—The winze is now : down 21 feet, at the bottom of which blocks of stone are being taken out— about lcwt—showing plenty of th© precious metal. The shareholders are so ''■'"' confident of the future of this claim that no reasonable offer will induce them to part with an interest. Resekve G.M. Co.—After many solicitations the proprietors have been at last ■ induced to float a company to work this piece of grouud, and give the publican opportunity of investing ia the concern in a legitimate way. In addition to a splen- | did reef, which haa been worked upon bjT the manager for the past three mouths., * the reef ia the Home Rule, from whieb ' '"* such good results art; now being obtained,, is passing right through the grouud, and he is only waiting the cutting of Blaekmore's reef in the Barrett GM. Co. to enable him to trace this also into the grouud known as the Reserve. The New Golden Pah are about to start working from the road level. Arrangements are pending with the TJuioa Beach re pumping. * Rough Cbeek.—Mr Kuffia ia at work on the Rough Creek ground. He has trenched for a hundred feet on a likely looking, leader adjoining the Castle Rock boundary, and is now going to prospect on the point of land nearest to. Auckland. —Mail. :
