Thames High School.
Tbe examination for two scholarships in connection with the above school, took place in the school room. Baillie street, on Wednesday and Thursday last, under the superintendence of the Head Master, Mr Adams, and resulted in Jessie Burns and John Farquhar carrying off the honors. The competition amongst the first four compptitors was very keen, there being only a difference of 4 marks between them. The following is a list of the competitors and the number of marks obtained by each:—

Two of the children of Mr Burns now hold scholarships in this school, and both of them were, pupils, in the, school when they gained them. The Chairman of the Board of Governors (Mr Wilkinson), and Dr Kilgour and Mr Marshall afforded their assistance in awarding the marks in certain subjects.
