NEW WHAU.

The manager reports, under date June 24th, as follows: —No 1 intermediate level: We have driven a distance of 80 feet from the liaEging-wall, and have cut Christie's leader. It is about 6 inches in thickness at the bottom of the drive, but it appears to be broken up and disturbed by a clay slide at the top. I believe after driving on it for a short distance we shall get into a better class of country, and get good gold. There are about 350 feet of j the leader running through the company's ground, The winze that we are sinking on the hanging wall lode is down 35 feet. The lode is about 12 inches in thickness. We have about 50 feet more to sink to meet the drive on the 160 feet level. On the 160 feet level" the contractors are making good progress. They have driven 50 feet since they started their contract. They will have to drive about 30 feet more to cut Christie's leader, and about 20 feet more eastward of Christie's to meet the winze that we are sinking on the hanging-wall lode. Sons of Freedom level : The Albumia contractors are makiug very good progress. They are about 40 feet in the New Whau Co.'s I ground. The country and the reef are greatly improving as they drive into the New Whau ground. We are saving the quartz that the contractors are breaking down, to give it a trial at the Albumia battery.—Chas. H. Wilson.
