SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
Wellington, This day.
There is nothing definitely known ; bul Mr Oliver's re-appointmet appears in evitable.
Patetere is a good deal talked of in the lobbies. Sir George Grey intends maintaining that purchasers, having knowingly broken the law, cannot get a Crown grant; that Maoris have been paid for the land, • and therefore it reverts to the Crown, who may give compensation or not, as they think fit, to the illegal purchasers. There is a rumour .about that Mr Hall will resign, and re-construct the Ministry from his own side and the Middle party.
Sir George Grey will bring up: the Local Government scheme. Many of his his supporters think he should leave the responsibility of doing this with the Government, but he is resolved.—Star.
