OWEAROA.

(feom a cobbespondent.)

The Radical have just completed a crushing pf 43 tons for. a return'of ftMtfis I of retorted gold. Mr Campbell has just started for the Thames, taking the gold with him. The mill will start on another parcel in 10 days' time from tbis mine. The Golden Hill commenced on a parcel „. of 50 tons, and so far the yield promises ; ' to be satisfactory. In the Victoria work is still going ahead, and within another - 50 feet it is expected the reef will be in hand. The ground stands in a; good ? position, and will, likely repay well the money expended upon it. The Lucky Hit shareholders are busy talcing out another crashing, and if it shapes any* thing like the last, a capital future is before the mine. The owners deserve all their good luck, for a great deal of deadwork was undertaken by them, and, although poor men, they managed to hold - ' out, and are now about to get their * reward. They applied to the County for a little assistance, but, like many more deserving men, were refused. . The Smile' of Fortune (Oats and party) have been engaged the last few weeks in making a connection between their levels./ It will b* remembered that their last good crushing came from the top level, and in order to facilitate their operations they determined to sink a winze to their low or battery level. In a few days th* winze will be completed, when they will. r . be in a position to send large quantities of stuff to the mill, and at a trifling expense. We should like very much to see the . County Engineer at Owharoa, and get him to authorise a few loads of stuff on the main road, for it is almost impossible to get to the stores without getting ■ bogged. '
