OUR MINES.

MOANATAIRL Dating the latter part of last week the manager struck a small patch in the Morning Star section, in the shape of 6Olbs of rubbly picked stuff showing gold freely. The lode is much jumbled up, though colors ot the precious metal are seen every day. The quartz gets more plentiful as the slide is cut into. The manager expects to connect the Nonpareil tunnel with the Central Italy shaft at the end of next week. The battery is now working two shifts, and the crushing is showing a material improvement over the returns of the last month or so. The manager's weekly report is as follows: — " Morning Star, 50 feet level: In stripping the quartz over main slide, 601bs of rubbly stuff and clay showing gold throughout freely was bagged. On further cutting into slide, strong dark stone of a promising character has been met with. Nonpareil level: In driving west, the ground is rather easier, and another fortnight's work will, I think, break through to shaft in Central Italy. There is no other change to notice elsewhere. The crushing is showing improvement upon last month's return, and the battery has been working two shifts this week.—l am &c, Robt. Comeh." COLUMBIA. An amalgamation between this mine and the Albion is talked of and will probably be carried into effect, as the shares in both companies are held by the same persons. TAPC.
