PARLIAMENTARY.

(Peb Pbbss Association.)

LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

Wellington, Thursday

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Wellington, Friday. In the House to-day, Dr Wallis raised a question of privilege, and asked whether it was competent for Mr Beetham to give notice of the Adress in Reply on behalf of M Collins, who had not been sworn in., —The Speaker settled the matter by calling on Mr Collins to be sworn, who then renewed the notice.

BILLS TO BE INTBODTTCED.

The following Bills were given notice of:—Hospital and Charitable Aid (Mr Dick); Licensing (Hon. J. Hall); Chinese Immigration (Major Atkinson). The Hon J. Hall, in referring to a point raised by Sir George Grey yesterday, that no seats had been provided in the Council Chambers for Eepresentatives at the opening ceremony, explained that the omission was accidental.

Sir Geo. Grey thought the matter was sufficiently important for Government to move for a Committee to go into the whole subject. Mr Hall promised to consider the suggestion;

The Speaker read a memo from the Speaker of the Legislative Council expressing regret at the occurrence, and stating that steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence.

Sir Geo. Grey's motions for all Patetere correspondence and a return of all moneys paid to newspapers in the colony was agreed to.

The Hruse rose at 3.15
