H astings, This day
A number of prospectors came into the township last evening, and report that they are well pleased with several places which they visited.
Mr Trainor and party are making good headway with their contract under the County Council, between here and Waikawau.
Mr Me Jormick also arrived last evening for the purpose of commencing vigorous operations on his contract. . Mr Mcllhone (late Inspector of Miners' Eights) was here yesterday afternoon, and had a long interview with most of the miners and residents. I have not heard the exact nature of his business, but it has leaked out that he was preparing the way for some public action in reference to the conduct of Mr Kenrick. He visited the Government school, and expressed his approval of the neat and orderly condact of it under the respected teacher, Mr Gillies.
