Thames High School.

The monthly meeting of the Governors of.tlie Thanies High School was held yesterday afternoon at the Borough Council Chambers. Present—The Chairman (Mr Wilkinson), and Messrs Ehrenfried, Marshall, Bagsall and Dr Kilgour

The Secretary to the Whangarei High School wrote asking for a copy of the Board's rules and regulations; and "itwas decided to send him what information could be sent.

The Secretary to the Auckland School Commissioner wrote informing the Board; that the sum of £27 15s 7d had been; placed to the credit of the Board's account at the Bank of New Zealand.—Received. ',

The head master notified that two! scholarships were vacant which were' lately held by Miss B. Watkin and} Master Keary, and asking for instructions; concerning them.—lt was resolved that; they should be filled by a competitive; examination, such examination to be held; at the close of the present school term, viz , June 22nd or 23rd.

. .The head master also pointed out the, desirability of a good second master being appointed, and asked the Board to take the matter into consideration. .

Some discussion took place on this matter, all the Governors, however, being of opinion that the appointment should not be long delayed. It was eventually decided to let the matter stand over for a short time, in consequence of the financial position of the Board. „ . The Chairman and Dr Kilgour were appointed a committee to communicate with /Government to Represent them the position the Board was in, and the absolute necessity there was of further aid being granted. ; ; .; ■ ■ : . Dr Kilgour and Mr Ehrenfried were appointed visiting committee for. the current month, and after the usual monphly accounts were passed for payment' the Board rose. „
