Licensing Court.
The quarterly and , annual licensing meeting for the Districts of Thames and Hauraki was held at noon to-day. Pre-sent-—H.Kenrick, Esq., K.M., Chairman; L. J. .Bagnall, W. Wilkinson, and R. Workman, Commissioners; and W. H. Taipari, Assessor. ' r _
Mr Kenrick said it was a subject of congratulation to the Commissioners in going through the Police report to find J that' the houses had been greatly improved in the matter of accommodation during the year. Drunkenness had also decreased 25 per cent,, , DISTEICT OF HaUBAKI. APPLICATIONS FOE NEW HOUSES. Robert Comer, Puriri; ; -, .•; Mr Brassey for applicant. Mr Kenrick. said that the house was not yet built, and the Bench could not grant a license. Mr Brassey said that the application was made with the view of finding if the Commissioners would grant a license if the house were built. The erection would cost a large sum of money, and Mr Comer would want some guarantee. Mr Kenrick said the Bench could not do anything till the hou,se was built. There was a petition against it by the natives of the vicinity and the opinion of the Bench was that! the ;■app.lic^tSdii" was, premature. Oliver Garret, Puriri.
The application} was adjourned ;ibr fourteen days, pending thie lodging of plans and completion of the house. His Worship the chairman said that the license would, be granted. TBANSPEB. The license of the Pioneer Hotel; Hikutaia, was transferred from R. Kelly to J. Corbett. i

Sergt. O'Grady said this house was much improved, and repairs were now going on. His Worship said that the transfer was granted on the condition that;the store should be removed from the. bar.
Adjourned for 14 days. W. Dibsell, Waihou Hotel, Omahu. His Worship made similar remark concerning this as in last case. -■•: Adjourned for 14 days. , J. JPlett, Rob Roy Hotel; Granted at same fee as last year.
K. Uawkes, Tapu. The police reported that the building was old and delapidated, and tery dirty. The licensee carried on a store in the bar.
Mr Brasaey, who appeared for applicant, made application for an adjournment for 14 days. Granted. A. M. Jacobs, Tapu Hotel. Granted. E. Munro, Sauaeranga Hotel. Granted.
