Losoon, May 17. Gladstone has announced in the House of Commons that the Ministry will stake the existence of the Government on passing the Irish Land Bill. The arrest of Father Sheehy, for inciting seditious language, has increased the excitement in Ireland. 400 soldiers who were enforcing, the evictions in lipperary were badly treated by the peasantry. The soldiers, in defence, were about to use their firearms, when several priests rushed in front of the levelled rifles and guaranteed to keep order.

London, May 23. ! Hostilities are breaking oat in Trans vaal between'the Boers and Kaltirs, and, in an engagement which has taken place, 70 Kaffirs were - killed. The Boers are plundering the Kaffirs. A strong Nihilist speech has been delivered in Paris, which has caused some uneasiness to the authorities. Lord Selborne, Lord Chancellor, has introduced into the House of Lords a bill to facilitate the arrest of. offenders escaping to the colonies charged with, certain offences. Those provided for are to in* elude treason and felony, ' but are not limited to these charges.
