The Australasian to-day, referring to the Adelaide Birthday Cup, sajs that Mata'a running for the race fully justifies his disqualification by the Victoria Racing Club, after the last Melbourne Cup. . ■•■■■ ■ • ' • -;' ':' ' :
Mata was sold yesterday for.eight hundred guineas shortly before the race.

The agricultural statistics of South Australia published to day show that the area under cultivation is 1,134,000 acres, being an increase of 215,000 acres compared with the last year. The yield during the past season has been 8,606,000 bushels, a decrease of 5,620,000 compared with the season of 1880. This year's average has been four bushels of 58 pounds per acre against nine bushels of 41 pounds last year.
