This'day.Robert Gallagher, on a charge of bigamy was committed for trial. The prisoner when living at Auckland in 1868 lived with a woman named Alice Rigby* for about two years, but at the instigation uf frieuds they were married by Father

McDonald at St. Patrick's Church. Before taking up with Gallagher, Alice Rigby lived with George Hird. In 1872, Gallagher met Eliza White in Auckland, she went to Wellington and met him there, met .him again fire years ago at Napier and married him, not knowing he was married to Alice Kigby. Gallagher does not bear a good character, and had separated from bis last wife after giving her a tremendous thrashing. Mr James Stewart, formerly District Engineer of Auckland, has been appointed consulting engineer, in the matter of the water extension supply for the borough of Naper.
