Meeting of the Local Board of Health.

A meeting of the Board was held this morning at the Council Chambers, Cr MoGowan in the Chair. PresentMessrs Mennie, Wilson, Osborne, Marshall, and Veale. • ■ .

Dr Payne, who was in attendance, reported upon the state of health of the Borough. He mentioned several cases, and pointed out the.absolute necessity there existed for the provisions of the Public Health Act being enforced. It was resolved that notice be sent to Mr Moses Ensor to cause the isolation of bit sick child, and to the friends of Mr Ensor warning them from in any way visiting the family or receiving visits from any of the inmates of Mr Ensor's house. The County Council were requested to take steps without the Borough limits to warn residents of the provisions of the Act, and the necessity for due attention to the same.

A prosecution was ordered against the father of a child lately deceased, for not giving notice of scarlet fever being in his family. The person resits in Queen street, and it was stated that a large number of the children in the neighbourhood were permitted to visit the sick child and to hold intercourse with ether members of the family.
