Great inconvenience and loss is being caused by Mr Barstow being the only Resident Magistrate here, and he is going South to attend the Judicial Commission. The District Judge is also away.

The charge against Simms for attempting to murder the girl Carbine at Riverhead is proceeding at the Police Court. The medical evidence shows that several veins were severed by the wound, but the knife fortunately missed the principal blood vessels aimost by a miracle, so that the wounds were not fatal.

Sir George Grey addresses the electors on Monday night at the Theatre Royal.
