THE TIKI.

Tiki, May 6,

Maobis' Claim. — The Maoris hare been dming a level about 20 feet deeper than their last low level, and about 22 feet fronj; where they started to drive they hate cut a fine looking leader about 10 inches thick, in a splendid blue sandstone country. The stone looks very well, and ii highly mineralised. They are still pushing ahead their No. 3 level, and are seeing gold every time they break down. The ground in the level is much harder than it was, and the Maoris are now using dynamite for blasting purposes. McDounel Bbothebs;—Within the last week this party have cut two new reefs. One is about 18 inches thick, and sires good payable prospects. The other has been cut into about 12 inches, and likewise gives good prospects. The road from the main track is all but completed to McDonnel'a lower level, whereabout 30 tons of,quartz are stacked ready to send to the mill, and as soon as the road is ready a trial lot will be sent to the Emily battery. Of course none of the parties will send more than small trial lots in the present state of the road, as very little traffic would make it impass* able, arid I suppose two or three months at the most will see the new battery at work. 1 . . . Sheehan ahd Hebnak.—This mine is again to the front, with a splendid show of gold in the intermediate level, which is being driven upon the junction of the two reefs. The reef looks very well in the bottom level, but they are not nearly far enough in to be under the shot of gold, from which they are now breaking the rich ■tone. tt Blackmobe an© FitzGebald—Have now got into splendid country with the cross-cut that they are now driving to cut their latest find. At a lower level they are driving another cross-cut to intersect their specimen leader at a greater depth, Babbkt's Mine.—The manager has got the new house finished, and is pushing ahead the cross-cut to intersest the sroail specimen leader, which I expect to hear of him cutting every day now.
