Arrival of Sir George Grey.
By the Eotomahana last evening the senior member for this district (Sir George Grey) arrived, and was met on the wharf by a large number of friends. There were present—the Mayor, County Chairman, Ehrenfried, McCullough, Kilgour, Speight, Woods, Martin, Macandrew, and a great many others whose names we did not get. A carriage and pair was in waiting, and Sir George Grey was driven off to the Pacific Hotel. Upon Sir George appearing upon the deck of the steamer three hearty cheers were given.
.Today, in company with; the local authorities, Sir GeorgeJj&^y visited the Queen of Beauty mine, the Thames ! Paint Marju{actory, and, other places of interest. The sererat modes of treatment to which the hematite ore is subjected were explained to Sir George Grey. The planting of •ii r#e trees upon the hill sides was urged by Sir George, and he promised by _ September to supply the authorities •with a collection of youDg plants. Messrs Hopkins aud Clarke's apiary at Parawai was visited, and the system followed by these gentlemen, in treating the honeybee was explained.
