Justice is the great bat simple principle, and the whole secret of success, in all government—as absolutely essential to the training of an infant as to the control of a mighty nation. Some have wondered that disputes about opinions should so often end in personalities; but the. fact is, that' such disputes begin with personalities, for our opinions are a part of ourselves. Weakness, of whatever nature, has ever a hankering after power; and there is no weakness which results in greater mortifications than that which is bred of egotism. It is a strange thing to behold what gross errors and extreme absurdities men do commit for want of a friend to tell them of them. The.light,of a good counsel is that which, setteth business straight. •
