Brisbane, This day§. The Trans-continental Rail-way, The steamer Brisbane has arrived at Cooktown from Hong Kong, with 350 Chinese. One of them is suffering from small-pox, and the vessel has therefore been quarantined. Mr Mcllwraith, the Premier, ' telegraphs from London that he has come to an agreement for a company to carry out the trans-continental railway scheme, subject to surveys confirming the representations which had been made. A surveying expedition will leave London for Queensland in the middle of May. Sydney, Friday.

The following are the acceptances for the II J.C. Plate, to be run for to-morrow: Progress, Wellington, Sapphire, Martindale, Good Morning, Orient, Richmond, and Canary. Communications are passing between Sir Henry Parkes, Premier and Colonial Secretary of New South Wales, and the Governor of Houg ELong, relative to the present Chinese rush to this colony. Most of the new arrivals are going to the tin mines.
