It has now transpired that the proposal of the Eight Hon. W. E. Gladstone that the funeral of the late Earl of Beaconsfield should be publicly performed, was made by special desire of the Queen; but that her Majesty has deferred to the wishes expressed by the late Earl's will that the funeral should be of a simple character. The interment will take place at Hughenden on Thursday. The convention of Land Leaguers, held in Ireland, at which one thousand members were present, has passed a resolution setting forth the definite refusal of the Land League to accept the provisions of the Land Bill now before Parliament unless material amendments are made.
