We mentioned in a previous issue that our youngsters were overmatched in weight and age, and therefore ire were not surprised at their not coming off victorious—the wonder would have been if they had done otherwise; as it is, they acquitted themselves capitally, and indeed, we understand, created a favjjrablejimpjession.jseithjthe spectators for their pluck end energy~Tn~~Eal;kllTrgthe " big 'uns." A friendly match was. played on Monday also by "our boys" with an eleven of the Grammar school, but here again they had almost men to play against and so we conclude the inequality of the sides precluded the necessity of recording scores.
The lads were well and hospitably received, and " buns, lemonade, and ginger beer " was " all the go," at the expense of their Auckland friends, who shouted teetotal drinks like bricks, and everything went off as well as could be desired.
