The Kennan Affiliation Case
The E.M., in giving judgment in the Kennan case on Saturday, said there was no doubt in bis mind, from the evidence, that the defendant, Richard Kennan, was the father of the child, and therefore the Court adjudicated him to be so, and made an order for the payment of 10s per week from November last till the child was 14 years old, and to fiud two sureties of £100 each, and himself in £200, for payment of the same ; and in default of any weekly payment, six months' imprisonment with hard labour in Mount Eden Gaol. The application of Mr Hay on the part of the plaintiff for costs, £10 17s, was granted.
The defendant was ordered to be detained in custody till sureties were forthcoming. He is now in Hamilton lock-up.
