COROMANDEL.
(feom a coeeespondent.)
t - This day. A vessel arrived to-day with machinery for the Tiki mines, which will be put up in seven weeks.
Success. —Some good gold was obtained yesterday, and the mine is likely to be one of the best in the district.
Just-in-Time.-—More good stone last night.
Great regret is expressed at the manager of the Union Beacn resigning.
A public meeting is called for to-night to take into consideration the monetary proposals of the Government for the opening up of roads and tracks in this district.
The Tiki mines are, generally speaking, all looking well. The Golden Pah is getting out very good gold from the stope at the 80 feet level.
Bishop Cowie visited the schools yesterday, and was highly pleased. He left to day by the steamer.
Mr Goodwin, Inspector of Schools, went through the schools yesterday. Sir George Grey's arrival is looked forward to with great interest.
