OLD CALEDONIAN.

The manager's weekly report is as follows :—Reef on winze, No. 3 level, is all taken down, carrying strong colours of gold the whole distance. The' leader is about 18 inches thick. No. 2 reef has scarcely been broken into yet, but colors of gold were found when it functioned with the specimen leader. I started sinking again yesterday with two shifts, and the next time the leader is taken down shall break into the hanging wall of No. 2 reef if possible. I shall then be able to judge of its payable qualities. If it is anything like the specimen leader you may look forward to more prosperous days. There is no change in drive on No. 6 reef game level. I have stopped this drive for the present, and put tbe men into the winze. No. 1 level crosscut is now in a distance of 23 feet, and not yet intersected No. 2 reef, but still in splendid country, full of mineral veins. The leader met with must either be a dropper from No. 2 or a parallel leader running in the same direction as No. 2. We may expect to have the No. 2 in hand any shift. Those reefs are accustomed to make shaarp bends, and it is my opinion that our crosscut is going into one of these, which* will make the distance gaeater than it would otherwise have been.
