This day
Mr Mclror, a celebrated chemist of Melbourne, has been sent orer by the Melbournecapitalists to inspect the sulphur at White Island, and report whether it will be advisable to erect a chemical manufactory, and the establishment for the preparation of sulphuric acid and chemical manure. Mclror has returned, and is favourably impressed with resources of the Island, he considered a very important industry can be maintained; Wilson's sulphur works at Tauranga will be taken over and improved.
New quartz has been found at Raima, about 28 miles from Tauranga.
