The return of amalgam from the top plates of the Golden Fleece Extended Quartz Mininer Company for last week was 2630zs from 132 tons of quartz.
A large blast was fired to-day in connection with harbour works. The charge consisted of a thousand pounds of colonial dynamite and two hundred und fifty pounds of colonial made lithofracteur. This is the first large charge of such explosives fired in the colony, and although the rock was full of seams and cavities, it is estimated that about 90C9 tons were thrown out aud loosened.
Bowman, of KepftoD, reports that the United Alpine Company for the past week obtained 2140zs of amalgam from 100 tons of quartz. The Golden Treasure Company obtaiued 184ozs of melted gold from 100 tons of quartz. An active demand has set in for shares during the week in the Keep It Dark Company. IN"il Desperaudum tributers are reducing; stone estimated to yield 14dwts per ton.
