WAIHE.
(from: otje own coeeesfondent.)
Waihe, March 22nd, 1881
I paid^a fisit; tb'ithe mines itfthis part of the County to-day. The first visited was the Waitete .G.M.Co; (Jones and party). The amount of work done for the time reflects great credit on the party. Besides putting up a good house for the use of the men, they have driven fully 60 feet, and expect to cut the reef in about a week —not a bad week's work for four men, though they have the advantage pf a truck (the first on the ground). , ■
The next was the Dulcibel, (Potter and party.) Here 150 feet of a cross-cut brings you to the footwall of the reef, along which the shareholders have driven about 45 feet. They save about A feet of crushing dirt, and have about 60 tons stacked ready for the battery. Next week they intend to cut through the reefs and see see what size it really is and how much of it is payable. As' the shareholders, of the next claim, the Martha, are putting in a cross-cut on the hanging wall and are in over 100, feet, the lode should soon be found. They also expect to cut the reef this, week. There are also several parties out prospecting with more or less success, but,! have not. heard of anything payable yet.[]
