Thames Rifle Rangers.

The parade of the Thames Rifle Hangers, held last evening at the Shortlanil B[all .was unusually large. , The officers Were all present, Captain Douglas in command, and exercised the corps in rifle drill and company movements, at the conclusion of which he informed them he had by advertisement' called them together for the purpose of taking an expression of opinion as to the intended Easter Beview at Waikato. He, Captain Douglas, said that he had attended, several meetings of officers, and felt very awkwardly fixed, not; being able to say whether the Eangers would or would not go. Hence the advertisement which doubtless they saw; he wished to leave the matter entirely in their hands; he felt that it was a vexed question, and he would not attempt to bias them either way, if they decided to go, he was. .with them heartily, on the other hand, he would not induce any of them to go, if they considered it in any way to their detriment, the will of the company was his will, and he felt sure that once having decided, they would as usual pull together and be unanimous. He was himself willing to go provided he was able to command at least 40 rank and file on' the dccasidn. ; Those who were desirous of going were then requested to give their names, when only eleven of the required number responded to. the call. It was afterwards decided to hold a concert and ball on Easter Monday, and a committee was appointed for that purpose.
