Our Deputation to Mr Rolleston.

The Old, Old Story-Would give the Hatter Consideration.

A deputation, consisting of Mr Brodie (County Chairman), Cr Porter, Mr Wilkinson (Mayor' of the Thames), Mr Cadman (Chairman Coromandel County Council), waited upon the Hon Mr Holiest on to-day relative to various matters concerning the Thames and Coromandel. They asked a grant of £1000 for the completion of the road between the two districts. Mr Rolleston suggested an application should be made for assistance on the pound for pound system, but upon Mr Brodie saying the local bodies could not contribute, he stated that he could not hold out hopes of the money being granted, but their application vvould receive the consideration of the Government when the estimates were being prepared.

Mr Cadman asked assistance for the construction of gold field tracks, when Mr Eolleston said the money could be applied for under the usual conditions. He would like tqhelp the development of the Tiki.

Mr' Porter pointed out the necessity for a Court-house and Telegraph Office at Ohinemuri, and secured a promise that the matter would be looked into.
