The following are the Property Tax payments up to last night:—Auckland, £21,182 ; Hawkes Bay, £7,876; Wellington, £23,498; Nelson, £4,880; Canterbury, 33,811 ; Waitaki, £5,978 ; Otago, £23,054; Southland, £4,240; total, £124,549. Friday. Dr Skae and Mr Whitelaw, Superintendent of the Wellington Asylum, were examined before the Asylum enquiry commissioners this afternoon, their evidence being iv defence of the management. The resignation of E. W. Mills as Justice of the Peace has been accepted. The Thames has been appointed a district for the collection of dnty under the Beer Duty Act. I
