The stampers have not yet resumed operations, though the berdans hare been kept busy during the past few day grinding up tailings. The manager informs me that he will not send any more stuff to the mill until that now paddocked is crushed. At the mine operations are pro« Deeding as usual, and concerning them the manager reports :—" 70 feet level r Driving has still been carried on here by six men, the reef still maintaining a fair average size (about three feet in width), but I have seen very little gold for the last ten feet. This drive is now in a distance of 212 feet from the Alburnia boundary, leaving still a distance of 288 feet to drive to reach the Columbia boundary, btoping is still being carried on so as to keep a steady supply of quartz on hand for the battery. 160 feet level: Duriug the past fortnight the contractors have driven a distance of 24 feet. During the past few shifts the reef has shown considerable signs of improvement. It is now about four and a half feet in width, aud looks promising, but no gold showing as yet."
