This day.
Yesterday (lie Governor was driven as far as Blueskinj and afterwards visited the Botanical Gardens. In the afternoon a levee took place in the Town Hall, when an address of welcome was presented I'by the City Council, to which the Governor made the fallowing reply—" I thank you for your address and the cordial welcome, as well as for the wish you express that I should not only visit this district, but spend some time annually in the southern part of Pew Zealand. My present stay among you is necessarily short, but it is impossible to pay even the most hurried visit to your city without being struck by its rapid developement and the activity of industry which pervades it, of without deriving from facts the fullest conviction that no temporary check, can seriously retard the pro«res3 of this colony.
