Yesterday,

The steamship Taupo will leave here shortly and may be expected in Auckland in a few days. Mr Falkner's hotel at Bowentown was burned down ou Saturday. The building was insured. The first sale of lands at Stewartstown took place to-day at Turner and Buddies auction room. Captain Turner was the auctioneer. A large number of sections were sold. 'Bidding for some was very spirited. Some Te Puke settlers were large purchasers. The sale was considered very satisfactory.
