Mrs Alexander's Concert.

A moderately large audience attended the Academy of Music last evening, the occasion being a concert given by Mr Alexander and a number of lady and gentlemen amateurs. Mrs Alexander and Miss Coney played the numerous accompaniments in a highly finished manner. A chorus from II Trovatore was the introductory item, and had evidently been well practised. Mr Catran was heard, to advantage in the song " I fear no foe." This was followed by a solo by Miss Probert, and a quartette, in which Misses Coney and Day and Messrs Weston, and Coney took part. A pianoforte duet by Mrs Alexander and Miss Coney, and one of Mr Wiseman's humorous souys followed, the first part of the concert concluding with the celebrated " Huntsman's Chorus." The openiug cliorus in the second part went very smoothly, and wa3 followed by a song, " i. rise from dreams of thee," by Miss Coney. It may fairly be called the getn of the evening, and the young lady, being encored, repeated the latter portion of the piece. Mr Gilmer, assisted by several members of the company, sang " Sweet Chiming Bells," atid, though he appeared a little nervous, was fairly successful. After a song by Miss Strange, and comic songs by Messrs Wiseman and Bacheldor, the company gave " Eule Britannia," the National Anthem bringing the programme to a close. After the concert, quite a number of those present indulged in the dance for several hours, the music being supplied by the Thames Scottish Band.
