Ths Scripture Gift Association's annual report showed that only three clergymen mi Auckland, in response to the Association's request, have visited the public schools to impart religious instruction. Iv the country districts only three public schools were regularly visited by clergymen.

Stone in the chair, the profit and loss account showed a balance of £787, and the usual dividend absorbs £748 The directors considered it advisable a dividend be declared, and the Chairman moved tnat the usual dividend of Is 6d per share be paid. Mr J. J. Tinne, said, looking ut the accounts, the balance did not appear to be very large, and he sagges ed tnat an alteration be made in the price of gas, and that the expens-s be reduced. He considered the? should be able to put by the reserve fund ba'ance each year to cover wear and tear. The Chairman explained it was not possi le lo reduce the expose*, not to increase the price of gas. Pressure had been brought to bear several times to induce them to lower if.. He migbt slate that the Jtist half year was a most unfavorable season for gas. The Chairman's motion was agreed to.

Thu Government offer bonuses for 125 ton beet sugar, £1000} 10,000 gallons linaeed oil, £500; 50 tons of oilcake from linseed seed grown in the colony, £100; 50 tons etnrch, £300 ; a bonus of 50 per cent, on the value realised for the first £1000 worth of Bilk cocoons; a bonne of £500 a year for three years for the production of the first 50 tons of sulphuric acid ; a bonus of £250 for the first £1000 worth of household earthenware of marketable quality. Intending competitors for these bonuses rnui-t notify to the Government before the 3lsfc of December next of their intention to claim them some time duiing the following year.
