W. S. BIED V. T. MEAGHEB. Claim £2 10s Od. Mr Brassey appeared for the plaintiff, and asked for the case to stand at the bottom of the list. —Granted. H. J. LEE V. M. MAGIN. Claim £4 9s 6d. Mr Miller appeared for plaintiff and Mr Cuff for defendant.

Benjamin Greenwood being called by Mr Cuff,- said hie knew the defendant. He became bankrupt some time ago. He recollected seeing Mr Magin aud his son in his shop in September. The last sum he received from Mr Magin was £1. He was sure he had not received any other money. He swore that £4 9s 6d was owing to Mr Lee. The £1 was the last ■ money he had received. To Mr Miller—lf lie had received any other money he would have entered it on the books. He was certain the book was j correct. He went through the Court in i August 1879. He rendered defendant an account. Michael Magin said he owed Mr Greenwood not a penny. He had paid every penny. H e had paid it ia Decem ber. He could not recollect the amount he had paid defendant, but knew he had paid all he owed him. To Mr Miller—He paid the three pounds odd in the store of Mr Greenwood. Charles Magin said—On the 24th December, 1877, he remembered going into Greenwood's store with his father. His father paid Mr Greenwood some pounds and a few shillings. Father asked him for a receipt, but Mr Greenwood said | he had no time to make it out. To Mr Miller: He received moneys, but did not pay accounts. He never saw an account sent by Greenwood since the monty was paid by his father. JNfo one had ever called for the account. Mr Greenwood, re-called by Mr Brassey said the £3 odd had not been paid. H. J. Lee being sworn said he had purchased Greenwood's book debts. He had sent two letters to Magin asking for payment. In this case the plaintiff was nonsuited with costs £1 Os 6d. JOHN SAINSBTTBY V. T. GREEN. Claim, £3 4s. This case was withdrawn. E. S. THOMAS V. H. E. CAMPBELL. Claim, £19 7s. Mr Brassey appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Miller for the defendant.

In this case, which included £10 for money lent, Mr Brassey asked that £10 should be struck out, and the claim to remain for wages only.—Granted. H. E. Campbell said he was the defendant .in this case. He objected to prodnce the diary. He made a memorandum of the wages paid to Miss Thomas on each occasion. On the Bth of Feb. he made an entry in his diary. The entry, on the 29tli December was, ''Sophie, wages, £1 10s." The reason he took a receipt iv February was because he thought the plaintiff would deny it. To Mr Miller : He had a settling up with plaintiff in September. He did not owe the plaintiff anything now the M odd had been paid into Court. Ellen S. Thomas said—Mr Campbell gave me £1 on the Bth February this year. In September last he paid me up. Defendant had only paid her £1 since September. The defendant owed her £9 7s for wages. The Court gave judgment for the amount paid into Court, the plaintiff to pay professional costs. Court adjourned.
