Intelligence has been received from Candahar that circumstances have transpired there which lead to the belief that the evacuation of place by the British garrison will shortly be commenced. No definite announcement of intended withdrawal of troops has however been made public at Candahar or in this city.
London, February 24,
The Right Hon W. E. Gladstone met with a serious accident to-day as he was entering his carriage,- his foot slipped and he fell, his head striking the step of .the carriage, he sustained a severe wound, and is now confined to his bed.
