A CORRECTION.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib, —I wish to correct a statement in this morning's Advertiser to the effect that gas was escaping from the meter, or pipes connected to the meter, at the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, thereby causing an accident. Permit me to say that there was no escape of gas from the meter or pipes, until Mr Dod took out the plug from the cock of the meter, when the escaping gas ignited at the candle he had in his hand. Consumers should be careful not to tamper with their meters, but send •to the Works if,anything is wrong, and it will be attended to. By inserting the above you will oblige the Gas Company. —Yours, &c, /.„..:. ..•■,: R. Wilson, Manager.
