The measure introduced byM. Naquet for the purpose of legalising divorce in France has been rejected by iae French Chamber after a very animatedaiscussion. At the present time the Frenc'l law does not permit divorce on any grinds, and the proposal to introduce th; right of divorce under certain circunj-itauces is steadily resisted by tne clericalparty.
