EXTRACTS FROM TO-DAY'S MINER.

On Wednesday Mr F. J. Burgess received instructions from the Government tlirough Mr Kenrick that henceforth the Warden's office, Te Aroha, is only to be open four days a fortnight. We understand that the Government contemplate erecting an office at Paeroa, at which Mr Burgess will attend twice or three times during the month.

Quite a number of claims have applied for protection or contemplate doing so till after the erection of the battery. We trust that no time will be lost in pushing on the contract.
