OLD CALEDONIAN.
The mine manager reports as follows:— During the past week, the crosscut No. 1 level has been driven eleven feet in splendid country. The leader mentioned in last report has opened out to nine inches in width, and is heavily charged with antimony, mundic, ruby, silver and copper, and he should not be surprised to see good gold in it at any moment. He is going to put on four men at the No. 3 level to work at the specimen leader near the Calf boundary, and to sink a winze and to drive it to the No. 6 to junction with the specimen leader. This will prove very quickly whether there is any payable gold below the No 3 level of this portion of the mine. The Kuranui Company have sent up all their tools from the No. 3 level, and given up prospecting any further.
