THE ADJOURNED MEETING
From last Thursday then took place.
The Mayor suggested that only some important matters should be dealt with, and the rest left until some future occasion.
Or McGowan proposed that the water supply matters be attended-to, and the rest adjourned until next Thursday.
Cr Marshall seconded.—Carried
Cr Osborne then drew attention to the fact that the minules of the previous meeting must be the first business gone on with.
His Worship stated he would not hare the minutes read.
Cr Osborne said that it was not his wish to obstruct the business of the Council, only wishing for the business to be conducted in a proper manner, and he contended that the minutes must be first read, and that being done he would be prepared that all except important business should stand adjourned until the next regular meeting of the Council.
It was then proposed and seconded that the matter in connection with the Water Supply be gone into.
The Mayor said he had declared the motion carried.
Cr Osborne still maintained his right to a division, and, when refused, left the room.
Whispers were heard criticising the Mayor's action in a hostile manner, and it was generally considered he was wrong in not granting the division.
