Meiboubbtb, This day. Further exhibition awards :—Fourth order of merit, Chas. Fulton, of Blenheim, for flax ; Edward Hardy, of Dunedin, for hams and bacon.
Stdnet, This day. The Hon. John Watson, Colonel Treasurer, introduced the financial statement in the Legislative Assembly last night. He estimates the revenue for this year at £5,440,000, and expenditure at £5,232,000. No material changes are proposed in the estimates of expenditure except the reduction of one-third in immigation vote. Mr Watson announced that the railways of the colony are paying 4f per cent, on the capital sunk in their construction. He disclaimed any intention on the part of the Government to raise a new loan in the London market at present, but stated that a loan for £600,000 might possible be issued in the colony at an early date.
